I have never experienced such unfriendly staff at a yacht club. I would go so far as to say they were downright rude. After paying for a mooring for the night to be able to sleep in the wonderfully sheltered harbor of Biddeford pool, the staff at the dock was entirely unhelpful and mishandled our docking lines so badly that my boat slammed into the fuel dock bow first because the employee who offered to help made the line fast while I was still underway. The club then proceeded to offer me gasoline at almost three whole dollars over market price and bluntly exclaimed that they charge so much because they dont like people getting gas there.
My crew also witnessed a ship in distress come into port at midnight under tow and while this sailing vessel was still taking on water the staff at Biddeford pool yacht club tried to charge them for a slip space at the fuel dock in the middle of the night. I was appalled at the lack of common courtesy for a captain in need and will do my best to never let them see another dollar of mine again.
